Terms of service

Effective 2026-05-05. British English throughout.

The short version

PhlebMastery is a paid theoretical phlebotomy course. You pay once. You get six months of access. If you complete the course and pass the final assessment, you receive a certificate which is yours to keep forever. If you change your mind within fourteen days, we refund you with no questions asked.

There is no subscription. There never will be. The certificate proves you have learned the theory; it is not a regulated qualification, and it does not on its own permit you to practise phlebotomy on real patients. You still need supervised clinical training for that, in your jurisdiction, under your professional body.

Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you (the learner) and PhlebMastery, operated by Talat Ahmed in the United Kingdom. By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to them.

Where these terms refer to the course, we mean the PhlebMastery Foundation Course — ten modules, ten module quizzes, a final assessment, and a certificate — described on the course pages.

What you are buying

The course is a one-time purchase. The headline UK price is £10. We use Purchasing Power Parity pricing, so learners in middle-income and lower-income countries pay a reduced price (about £4 and £1.50 respectively). Your tier is set automatically from your detected country at checkout.

One purchase grants you, for six months from the date of purchase:

  • Read access to all ten modules.
  • Module quiz access for all modules.
  • Final assessment access, once you have passed all ten module quizzes.
  • The certificate, on passing the final assessment.
  • Read access to the reference library and the glossary.

Module 1 is free for everyone — you do not need to pay to read it or to take its quiz.

PhlebMastery is designed as a theoretical introduction to phlebotomy for people considering the career — an honest, structured way to find out what the work involves before committing to formal training. It is not a CPD-accredited course, it is not a regulated qualification, and it does not exempt you from any theory curriculum required by a formal training programme you may later enrol in. Different programmes have their own requirements, which we cannot predict or substitute for.

The six-month access window

Six months runs from the moment your purchase is recorded. After six months, read access to modules 2–10, the module quizzes for those modules, and the final assessment all expire. Your account does not expire. Your progress data is preserved. If you have already earned your certificate, the certificate is not affected — certificates are permanent.

You can extend access for another six months by purchasing a course extension at 50% of your tier price. Extensions stack onto your current expiry date; they do not reset the clock from the day you buy them.

We will email you a reminder thirty days before your access expires, another seven days before, and one on the day. We do not send guilt-trip reminders or manufactured urgency.

The refund policy

You can request a refund within fourteen calendar days of your purchase, no questions asked. The refund button is in your account at /account/billing and in the receipt email. Reading modules and completing the module quizzes does not affect the refund — trying the course out is part of evaluating whether it works for you.

The refund is automatically forfeited the moment you pass the final assessment and your certificate is issued. The certificate is the lasting product; once you have it, the purchase has done its job. Failed attempts do not forfeit the refund — the page where you submit a passing attempt warns you of this prominently before you confirm.

Refunds beyond fourteen days are at our discretion and are granted only for documented technical issues that genuinely prevented you from accessing the course. We’d rather hear about a technical problem than read about it later.

Some legal context, in plain English. Once you access any paid module you have agreed to immediate supply of the course, which under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 waives the statutory fourteen-day cooling-off right. Our fourteen-day no-questions-asked refund continues to apply on top of that, as a brand promise. Your separate statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — that the course be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose, and as described — are not affected by anything on this page and cannot be excluded.

If you live outside the UK, the consumer-protection laws of your country of residence may give you rights additional to those described here. Where they do, those rights apply on top of, not instead of, our policy. We apply the more-protective standard if there is a conflict.

Refunds are processed by LemonSqueezy and reach your card within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank. If your card has expired, LemonSqueezy will be in touch with the credit details.

What the certificate is, and is not

The certificate is a verifiable record that you have completed the PhlebMastery Foundation Course and passed its final assessment with a score of at least 80%. It carries:

  • Your full legal name as you registered it.
  • A unique certificate ID in the form PHM-YYYY-CCC-NNNNNN.
  • The date of issue and the version of the course you completed.
  • A link an employer or institution can use to verify it independently.

The certificate is:

  • Evidence of theoretical competence in phlebotomy aligned with the WHO 2010 Best Practices.
  • Permanent — you keep it forever, even after your course access expires.
  • Verifiable by anyone with the certificate ID, with no PhlebMastery account required to verify.

The certificate is not:

  • A regulated professional qualification — it does not appear on any national register and is not awarded by an accredited awarding body.
  • A licence to practise phlebotomy on real patients — clinical practice requires supervised hands-on training under your professional body and your employer.
  • A medical device, a clinical decision-support tool, or anything that should be used at a patient’s bedside in place of training.
  • A substitute for any course your employer or training programme requires.

We are explicit about this distinction because the value of the certificate is honest scope. An employer who asks has this person learned the theory? gets a clear yes; we make no further claim.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account password secure. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed by someone else. We will not ask you to share your password with us.

You can sign in with email and password, with a magic-link email, or with Google (other providers may be added later). If you sign in with Google, your name and email are pulled from your Google profile; we do not store your Google password.

You can delete your account at any time. If you do, we soft-delete your record immediately and purge it within 30 days. The certificate, if you have one, is handled per Privacy — Erasure and certificates.

Acceptable use

The course content is for your personal learning. You may not redistribute it, re-host it, train AI systems on it, or pass it off as your own.

You may not share your account with another person. The certificate is yours, in your name; sharing the account undermines the verification chain that makes the certificate worth anything.

Don’t try to break the site, scrape the content at scale, or work around the paywall. If you find a security issue, tell us at the address below.

Public verification of certificates

Anyone with a valid certificate ID can look it up at /verify and see the holder name, the issue date, and the status. We do not show your email, your country, your assessment score, or any other certificate you may hold.

If you have your account anonymised, the verification page will show “[deleted user]” in place of your name; the certificate continues to verify.

Service availability and changes

We make a reasonable effort to keep the site available. We do not promise uptime. If a planned maintenance window is needed, we email registered learners in advance.

We may update the course content over time as the WHO and other approved sources issue updated guidance. The version of the course in force when your certificate was issued is recorded on the certificate; updates to the course do not retroactively change what your certificate represents.

We may update these terms. Material changes are emailed to registered learners at least fourteen days before they take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.

Liability and limits

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under UK law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of PhlebMastery is limited to the amount you paid for your purchase. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses.

The course teaches phlebotomy theory. It is not clinical advice. We are not liable for clinical decisions made by anyone, anywhere, on the basis of having taken this course. Clinical practice requires supervised hands-on training under your professional body and your employer.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that nothing prevents you from bringing a consumer complaint in the courts of your habitual residence within the UK or EU.
